It is in the country of Mersin, Erdemli. It is far from Mersin 60km. It is below antic city Corcyus about 800-1000m and it is in the Mediterranean sea. It is said "Maiden Castle" to the castle which is on the islet offshore 200m. The Maiden Castle's south and north border are protected with 8 towers.The castle's out surrounding's length is 192m. Maiden Castle and the castle on the beach was connected with a road and taken the necessary measurements to prevent from the attacks coming from the sea. Corcyus whose connection with the coast was built by helens in 4BC and developed in the times of Romans and Brzyantine, was an important port in XIII century. The castle was built with the aim of preventing the attacks to come from the sea. There is a remain of a church. Maiden Castle which was restored by Karamanoglu Ä°brahim Bey in 1448, today turns into the symbol of tourism of Mersin.
